Štefan Harsányi
Thanks to the principles of honest work, humility and willingness to help, he grew into a person with an exceptional sense for people, whom he deeply respected and to whom he was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Štefan Harsányi was born on 22 December 1937 in Kolárovo, into a large family environment where he spent his entire childhood together with nine siblings. It was here that a strong sense of belonging, respect and responsibility was formed within him.
Štefan Harsányi worked in the energy sector during a period that belonged to the most significant stages of the technical and infrastructural development of Czechoslovakia. At that time, Czechoslovakia was one of the few countries in the world that had the majority of its territory electrified, and in the field of energy it ranked among the absolute world leaders, certainly among the most advanced states outside the USA and Western Europe. By the 1950s, the electrification of towns and industry was almost complete, which laid firm foundations for the country's economic development. In the 1960s, this progress extended to rural areas, as electricity became available in virtually every municipality. The following decade was marked by the modernisation of distribution networks, the construction of transmission systems and the achievement of exceptionally high reliability of electricity supply. It was during this period that Štefan Harsányi was actively working as an expert in the energy sector and, through his precise and responsible work, contributed to the operation and further development of infrastructure that was extraordinarily modern for its time and represented one of the pillars of the country's technical advancement.
From 1962 he worked in the energy sector within the Komárno district in several technical and professional positions. Even at a young age he displayed exceptional diligence, precision and attention to detail, which quickly established him as a recognised expert in the region. His colleagues valued him not only for his professional skills but also for his sincere, friendly and humane approach. He believed that technical work must be carried out with respect and responsibility, as it serves people. This made him a reliable partner for local authorities, businesses and individuals alike. Even after retiring, he did not stop working. He devoted his entire life to the energy sector — he followed new technologies, continued to educate himself and embraced modern solutions with enthusiasm. Until the end of his life he was actively working as an inspection technician and through his work contributed to the safety and development of Komárno.
"Communication with people and interest in them is the foundation of our existence. We always have something that we can and must share with others."
Thanks to his many years of involvement, he became one of the respected and esteemed personalities of Komárno.
Štefan Harsányi was a person deeply connected to Komárno. He regarded the city as his second home, which he constantly sought to move forward.
He took part in various initiatives, was present in the resolution of municipal issues and, through his professional and humane approach, earned the respect of both the residents and the city leadership. He was known for the fact that when help was needed, Štefan did not hesitate for a moment. He frequently offered his time, knowledge and energy without any expectation of reward.
His interest in public affairs was not formal — he was genuinely interested in what he could do to improve the lives of those around him. Thanks to his many years of involvement, he became one of the respected and esteemed personalities of Komárno.
